Most people message us about their song, their date, or their nerves. Then, a few messages later, the real question arrives: "Sorry — how much is this?"
It is a fair question, and you should not have to dig through a website to find it. Here is what private dance lessons cost at Dance More in Sydney, what decides your number, and how to work out which package you actually need.
The Short Answer
You start with a trial lesson for $25. That is a real private lesson with a teacher on the floor — not a sales meeting, not a tour of the studio. You dance.
After the trial, most people move onto a package:
| What you book | Price | Works out at |
|---|---|---|
| Trial lesson | $25 | One-off, your first lesson |
| 8-lesson package | from $1,440 | $180 a lesson |
| 12-lesson package | from $1,890 | $157.50 a lesson |
The 12-lesson package costs more up front and less per lesson. That is the trade-off. Below, we will help you work out which one you need — because buying the bigger package "just in case" is a waste of your money, and buying too small means rushing at the end.
What Actually Decides Your Number
The price is not really a price. It is a count. Four things move that count:
Your song. A two-and-a-half minute song is a different job from a four-minute one. Longer song, more choreography, more lessons.
What you want in it. A clean, confident dance with a nice ending is quicker to build than one with a lift, a dip, or a change of song halfway through.
How much either of you has danced. If one of you did some dancing as a teenager, that helps more than you would think. If neither of you has ever danced, that is completely normal here — it just means we build the foundation first.
How long you have. Three months is comfortable. Six weeks is doable. Two weeks means we design something simpler and make it look good, rather than pretending we can teach you more than time allows.
Notice what is not on that list: how "good" you are. Being a complete beginner does not cost extra. It only changes where we start.
Which Package Fits You
Choose 8 lessons if
Your song is around two to three minutes, you want it to look clean and confident, and at least one of you moves reasonably well. This covers most couples.
Choose 12 lessons if
Your song runs past three minutes, you want a lift or a dip, you are changing songs partway through, or neither of you has ever danced a step. The extra lessons are the difference between remembering it and owning it.
If you genuinely do not know, book the trial first. One lesson tells us more than twenty messages, and you will leave with a real answer instead of a guess.
What You Are Paying For
This is the part most price pages skip.
You are paying for private studio time at Alma Studios in Surry Hills — one teacher, the two of you, and a floor. Nobody watching. Nobody more advanced in the corner making you feel behind.
You are paying for choreography built for you. We design your first dance from scratch, around your song, your height difference, your dress, and what you are actually comfortable doing in front of people. Nothing is pulled off a shelf.
And you are paying for a teacher whose whole job is couples who are not dancers. That is a different skill from teaching people who already dance. It is why 135+ five-star Google reviews say some version of the same thing: I did not think I could do this.
Cheaper lessons exist. So do more expensive ones. The question worth asking is not "what is the hourly rate" — it is "will I be able to do this on the day, without counting in my head."
Is It Worth It?
Put it next to the rest of the day. Most couples spend more on flowers than on the one moment where everyone is watching them, filming them, and the photos actually get looked at years later.
You do not need to be good. You need three or four minutes where you are not panicking — where you know what comes next, your hands know where to go, and you can look at each other instead of at your feet.
That is what the money buys. Not steps. Confidence, and a moment you are not dreading.
One practical note: book earlier than you think you need to. Couples who start three months out spread the cost, never rush a lesson, and arrive at the wedding having already danced it properly a dozen times. The couples who leave it late usually pay the same and enjoy it less.
